Abstract In this paper a single stage single switch is used in order to improve the performance of the compact florescent lamp (R-L Load). Input power factor and output crest factor is improved by means of this single stage single switch electronic ballast. This consists of a SEPIC converter for power factor correction and a current source inverter. These two components are combined in a single stage and used for the performance improvement. Compact florescent lamp is used as an R-L load of 10 watts. The single core inductor is analyzed and designed for the performance improvement.
