Abstract – ABO3 type perovskites are believed to be ionic in nature. Considering closed shell electronic structure for A, B and O ions, we have performed point charge model calculations to compute electric field gradient and asymmetry parameter in some of perovskites. The calculated values are compared with the available experimental values for these parameters which have been measured using various nuclear hyperfine methods.
