Abstract – Traffic is the one thing everyone has to go through every single day of the life. Vehicular travel is increasing throughout the world, particularly in large urban areas. Its very hectic and annoying on a daily basis. Therefore the need arises for simulating and optimizing traffic control algorithms to better accommodate this increasing demand. This paper explains the simulation and optimization of traffic light controllers in a city and present an adaptive optimization algorithm based on reinforcement learning. There are a lot of different idea for the optimization of systems. Many of them require a huge amount of manpower, monitoring and constant repetitive maintenance .The implementation of a traffic light simulator, Green Light District is done, that allows to experiment with different infrastructures and to compare different traffic light controllers. Depending upon the traffic the time delay for each signal light differs. This is a fully automated and real-time server system that makes the system convenient , dynamic and efficient. Lesser the traffic lesser time for signal change.
