Abstract – This is an era of digital world, day by day there is an increase in the data stored online. Most of the data is private and needs to be protected from the hackers. Traditional authentication technique is to use alphanumeric password, but it has shown significant drawbacks. For example, easy passwords can be easily guessed and on the other hand, hard passwords are hard to remember. A Graphical Password Authentication is an authentication system that uses various graphical techniques to enhance system security. The graphical elements like images and grids are used to build a graphical authentication system. Using image as a password helps in remembering the password as well as it enhances the security. Various algorithms that use this authentication technique are studied and discussed.
