Abstract – Centrifugal pumps are the most preferred hydraulic pumps used in domestic and industrial world. Centrifugal pumps are used to transport fluids by the conversion of rotational kinetic energy to the hydrodynamic energy of the fluid flow. The rotational energy typically comes from an engine or electric motor. Centrifugal pump mainly consists impeller and casing, impeller acts as heart of the system. Impeller is a rotating component of Centrifugal pump which transfers energy from the motor that drives the pump to the fluid being pumped by accelerating the fluid outwards from center of rotation. The outward flow reduces the pressure at the impeller eye, allowing more fluid to enter. Impellers are usually short cylinder with an open inlet to accept incoming fluid, vanes to push the fluid radially and a threaded hole to accept a drive shaft. The centrifugal pump is a relatively high speed machine and the development of high speed drivers, has made possible the development of compact, efficient purpose. In this, we will have a conceptual overview of the design model of centrifugal pumps by EDGECAM software. Edgecam is one of the market leading computer aided manufacturing (CAM) software for NC part programming.
